COHN CONSTRUCTION SERVICES COMPLETES ADAPTIVE RE-USE AT HISTORIC CLAUSSEN'S

June 2019

Columbia, SC, June 19, 2019– Cohn Construction Services has completed the renovation and adaptive re-use of Claussen’s boutique studio apartments inside of the historic Claussen’s Bakery building.

The newly renovated 21,000 square-foot building consists of 29 exclusive apartments. Each unit has a unique floor plan from the next with differing features such as exposed brick, original floors and windows, vaulted ceilings, steel trusses and semi-private patios.  All units feature high-end finishes and custom casework that tie together the historic building with a modern touch.

Cohn Construction Services has completed several adaptive re-use projects in the Columbia area including the historic McCrory’s Building at 1556 Main Street and First Community Bank on Lady Street. Claussen’s was a great project to showcase Cohn’s adaptive re-use experience and passion for bringing life back to historic Columbia landmarks.

Claussen’s Bakery was opened in 1928 by George Fredrick Claussen and closed in 1963. In the years following it became Claussen’s Inn until it closed its doors in 2017. Claussen’s is currently accepting leases, visit www.liveatclaussens.com for more information.
